L I L Y

My name is Lily and I am the founder of Blue Cloud Ragdolls.
I have been working within the animal industry for 11 years, holding employment as a Veterinary Nursing Assistant, a Wildlife Rehabilitator, and an Animal Management Instructor at one of the top land-based colleges in the UK.
For the last 7 years, I have worked as a zoo keeper, spending my time working with breeding pairs of big cats, hand-rearing critically endangered birds, and giving talks at conferences for zoo professionals from all over Europe.
My qualifications include a Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management, and FdSc Applied Zoo Science with Distinction. I am currently studying BSc (Hons) Zoo Biology, leading on to a Masters Degree.
My career has given me a sound understanding of many topics essential to running a cattery, such as genetics, nutrition, and welfare, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to use my expertise to aid the preservation of the ragdoll breed.

Dean is my partner, and plays an active role in the running of Blue Cloud Ragdolls. Dean has extensive experience within the animal sector, and currently works as the Laboratory Manager at a highly respected land-based University Centre.
Dean's career here involves nutritional analysis, blood/urine/faecal examination, and working very closely with a team of veterinary professionals.
Dean provides the scientific practical and theory support to students and lecturers across departments, including Zoology, Ecology, Agriculture, and Equine Studies.
Dean's background has been hugely beneficial in many practical elements of our cattery, including by enabling us to carry out faecal testing to show an absence of parasites, rather than having to routinely use worming medications.

Badger is our 6 year old mixed-breed dog.
Badger is a registered Pets As Therapy dog, and has passed his Bronze and Silver Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme awards.
In 2023, Badger was one of only 25 non-pedigree dogs in the UK to make it to the final of Scruffts. Scruffts is the biggest non-pedigree competition in the world, and is held at Crufts each year - we were immensely proud of his achievements!
After multiple television appearances, including an episode of 'Alan Titchmarsh's Love Your Weekend' on hero dogs, Badger has shown that he really isn't phased by anything!
Badger's wonderful, laid-back temperament is a fantastic way to socialise our kittens with dogs, and we consider this to be of upmost importance if they are to settle into their new family homes in a stress-free, effortless manner, regardless of how many other animals may be living with them!
